Worth your time

Writing by other people that stayed with me. Every piece links out to its author, in their own words, on their own page. I have added a short note on why I am passing it along.

Different does not mean wrong

Ineke Kanhai

Empowering mentor, facilitator on mental health, identity, and belonging

Ineke tells the story of William, a pianist who experienced sound and color differently than the people around him and never quite fit the room he was in. With no formal training, he wrote a piece called Reflections for everyone who has ever felt like the odd one out. Her point is that what looks like a difference is often exactly where a person's gift lives.

Why I am sharing this
I read this and thought about every client who has walked in apologizing for the way their mind works. You are not a problem that needs correcting. The thing you have been told to tone down is very often the thing the world needs most from you. Difference is not a deficit. It is information about where your contribution is.

How much of yourself did you trade for being good at your job?

Carina Hellmich

International certified professional coach, mentor, and keynote speaker

Carina writes about the quiet cost of being the reliable one. The person everybody leans on can slowly become addicted to being needed, postponing their own life indefinitely, until the honest question arrives: who are you when nobody needs anything from you? She offers practical ways out, including finding one trusted person, letting others carry real responsibility, and scheduling your own needs instead of fitting them in later.

Why I am sharing this
This one stopped me. So many of us learned early that being useful was how we earned our place, and then we built a whole life on it. Her closing line is the part I keep coming back to. You should not have to reach exhaustion before you give yourself permission to rest. If you are tired in a way sleep does not fix, start here.

Something here land a little too close?

That is usually worth talking about. The first conversation is free, and there is nothing to prepare.
